MAY FIELD NOTES: Longer Days, Lighter Layers
Longer Days, Lighter Layers
May is that quiet month where we turn from spring to summer — the moment when the days stretch out, everything is brighter, and the countryside shifts into full bloom. Mornings are brighter earlier, evenings linger longer, and everything feels a little more possible outdoors. Here in Somerset we finally have all the trees back in full leaf which always seems to happen within a few days.
APRIL FIELD NOTES: Spring Showers & Transitional Layering
Seasonal Shifts & Countryside Markers
Lambing season is in full swing, skylarks rise from pasture and the woods are full of bluebells. Light stretches further each day, but the ground still holds winter’s damp — a reminder that spring doesn’t arrive all at once.
JOURNAL #30 - Behind the Design
The core ethos of our business is to design and produce outdoor trail and fieldwear that is durable, original and made for real British weather. We do this by incorporating our own experience, customer feedback and by working closely with a British factory to produce our final product.
JOURNAL #29: Staying Warm Outdoors by Layering Well
Winter doesn’t have to push your outdoor routine indoors. As an article in The Guardian recently highlighted in their piece on how to stay warm while exercising outdoors, the key is simple: build warmth from the inside out.
JOURNAL #28 - Getting Outdoors in Winter
Get outside for 10 minutes first thing in the morning
Try a lunchtime walk across the fields
Have a weekly “weather doesn’t matter walk”
JOURNAL #27 - Fleece: The Unsung Hero of Outdoor Living
The Unsung Hero of Outdoor Living
When the wind picks up and the skies turn grey, there’s one fabric that quietly steps in to keep us warm, dry, and ready for adventure: fleece. Lightweight yet insulating, soft yet durable, fleece has become a staple in the British outdoor wardrobe—and for good reason.
JOURNAL #26 - Spring Hikes
Hiking in Spring is such a wonderful experience! The paths come alive with colour as the flowers bloom, and the air feels fresh and invigorating.
Do you have a favourite hiking spot or dream destination for a springtime adventure? Share your inspiration with us.
JOURNAL #25 - Outdoor Clothing That Delivers
The original idea for our Microfleece T-shirt was born out of some frustration. We do a lot of work outdoors and when the temperature drops we wanted some extra warmth but got irritated by constantly pulling up our sleeves. And then add to the mix, a bit of drizzling rain, but not enough for a raincoat.
